Bamburgh Castle is such an awesome place. I’m amazed by it every time I go. And it’s really well run, too. You can see the Farne Islands from the battlements and Bamburgh is only a few minutes up the coast from Seahouses, where the boats leave for the Farnes. The book shop has the book for sale.
Billy Shiel boat operators. Billy Shiel was the original operator getting people (and the islands’ wardens) on and off the Farnes from the mainland. They remain the biggest boat tour company at Seahouses, offering a variety of trips to and round the islands as well as diving excursions. Always friendly and informative, I’ve used them for all my trips to the Farnes. There are various other operators at Seahouses, although I don’t really know them, so I only recommend the operator I know well.
